Last night was yet another excellent studio devMEET/Open House event. We had a few first-timers, a few of our core 'regulars,' a couple of very enthusiastic models, and as usual, great conversation, networking, and fun.
Shoot planning was in full force for a number of different collaborative projects being set up between various photographers and models in attendance. I include myself in this list, as I will hopefully be soon firming up schedules for one project with Keradwc and another with dwingephotography and Rebelflowers.
The entire studio was utilized for photo shooting across the evening, with models Sophia and Nancy arriving in coordinated streetwear that fit perfectly with the street art murals out on the back lot, as well as making for some great indoor posed sets. And it was lovely to meet Yuriaustrawberry (and photographer friend Casey), who I believe I saw helping out with art directing for some of the shooting, as well as offering up some excellent posing herself for several sets. I will, as always, look very much forward to seeing the finished images that come from the night. I'm sure we'll start to see some shots posted here in the group in the upcoming days and weeks.
It's also looking like this Wednesday's Lighting Practice Session is going to be another full class. Three spots are paid/confirmed, with the fourth spoken for, likely to be confirmed this weekend.
On that note, I've already set a couple of the event dates for October. Our Halloween devMEET/Open House night will be October 21, to avoid the mad rush of all the big Halloween parties that following weekend. Full costumes (or none) are welcome, but the main theme of the Halloween event will be MASK NIGHT - easy for almost anyone to find, purchase, or otherwise procure at least one mask to bring for themself and/or others to wear and pose in! And Yuri mentioned the very cool possibility that an MUA/FX artist she knows is looking to do some portfolio-building, and may want to come and work her magic at the October event! I'll post more info as that develops.
Our October session of Intro to Studio Photo Shooting is set for October 18, and I'm talking schedules with HourglassDeviant now for finalizing the October Lighting Practice Session date.
And finally, it's about 90% certain that I will be announcing an all-day artistic studio lighting workshop to be held here sometime between late October and mid-November, allowing for the ongoing basic workshops of the past few months to build into a more intensive presentation to take place before the holiday madness kicks in. Instructor and event details TBA as I confer with a couple of people regarding scheduling, to see which of a couple of different events will be the best fit for this fall, and which we'll hold for presentation early in 2012. Hard to believe it's already time to start planning for the next calendar year!
As always, thank you to everyone who takes part (in both the group and the studio's local events), and looking forward to seeing everyone here in the group's dA home as well as at the studio for upcoming events!

Nov 2 Artistic Lighting Workshop - ONE spot left!
This Saturday brings us to our current Artistic Lighting Workshop for studio photography, and we have just ONE spot left to include another participant!
The workshop is November 2, 10am-6pm, at D. M. Gremlin Studios in N. Long Beach, CA. Event is limited to 6 photographers, so even a sellout event will assure plenty of time and attention for each participant, for shooting, questions, etc.
We have two wonderful models for the day: HourglassDeviant (https://www.deviantart.com/hourglassdeviant) and StMerrique (https://www.deviantart.com/stmerrique).
A gallery of images of both of these ladies from our previous workshops can be seen here (18+ for artistic nudity).
The Nov 2 workshop day will focus on creating a scen
